Predator Perfect!

Saturday night the Senior Predators played what is now their final game of the regular season. We are scheduled to play Lugi in 2 weeks but they have forfeited that game. This means the the Kristianstad Predators have marched their way to a PERFECT regular season going 12-0. I can remember walking into the clubhouse for my very first team meeting in March. I was wearing both of my championship rings from American River College. I remember talking about the special effort that would be necessary to win all 12. How there would be bumps in the road but if we kept fighting together we could overcome those obstacles. Well that seems like a long time ago, and it did take a great effort and there were many bumps along the way. Our team always stayed together and never quit. Through injuries, sickness, and a ridiculously long break we stayed together as a team and finished the season a perfect 12-0. I am very proud of my players. They deserve great recognition for this accomplishment.
Division 1 South Champions!

Predators 41 - Göteborg Marvels 0

The game had a great atmosphere. We started at 7:00 on Saturday night. It had been a cloudy and light rainy day but was clearing up and the sun poked it's head out just as we started warming up. I noticed a difference in the demeanor in our team during pregame. We were more focused and had a look of determination that usually was not there. Usually we are very loose and relaxed pregame. Most of the time we are too loose and relaxed but understandable with the lack of competition at times. Saturday night though we looked better in pregame then ever before but we still remained a loose attitude. I knew we would play well. I also knew that it was going to be a physical game. Göteborg is a good team. They play aggressive hard nosed football. Their guys play their asses off from snap to whistle. We don't see a lot of that so it was good for our guys to play against teams like that. I wish we could play them every week. Coach Westlund does a phenomenal job with his guys and it shows on the field.

We started the game fast and marched down the field at an incredible pace but turned the ball over in the redzone on our first 2 possessions. I could tell that the intensity of the game was effecting our execution but i also knew that as we continued to put pressure on them the bubble would burst and once we put the ball in the endzone the TDs would start flowing. Our defense has been playing very well the last couple games and Saturday night was by far their best game of the season. On the second series of the game the defense caused a safety which burst the bubble and the offense followed suit. We had a 34-0 lead at half time. We scored on 5 straight possessions and the defense only gave up 3 first downs all half. With the game in hand we made some substitutions on defense to allow some of the reserves to get some quality playing time and to rest some of our key/injured players for the playoffs. The second D came out and although they gave up a couple plays here and there, they stood their ground and kept the Marvels out of the endzone. I was very impressed. GREAT WIN PREDATORS!! NOW LET'S FINISH THE DRILL!

** Highlight film will be posted soon.
