2013 Season Preview

The senior Predators are embarking on untreaded territory in 2013. In only their 3rd season in existence the Senior Predators will be playing in the Super Series. This move brings many new challenges along with many  questions  for both the club as well as the players. The Kristianstad Predators are  a young club trying to make its mark in American Football in Sweden and only time will tell how the meet these new challenges and answer the questions.

QB Phil Juhlin

On a club level, the move up to the highest division in Sweden means that more fundraising and capital is needed to create a successful team. The travel budget for the 2013 is nearly ten times that of 2012. The club has committed to working through sponsorships  to help our players and support the club. The club understands that in order to be competitive at this level it requires the ability to add talent to the roster through import players. As The Predators grow through the near future I believe they will be second to none in their desire and ability to support their players and coaches.

The team will look very similar in 2013 as it did in their Div 1 Championship season of 2012. Only one key player from 2012 will be missing in 2013 and We have added a number of additional players who will help elevate our game to another level. The goal is no different in 2013, the standard of excellence in how we approach the game has not changed. Every player knows what the standard of his position is and will work diligently to achieve perfection in what they do. Knowing that perfection is not attainable they know that their work is never done.
WR Ben Hörnquist
RB Anders Larsson
WR Marcus Johnsson

The Predators will return all 11 starters on offense. The high tempo, high scoring offense of 2012 is being fine tuned for 2013 and will be ready to showcase the many talents the Predators boast on the offensive side of the ball. Returning at QB is Swedish American Philip Juhlin. Phil has great ability in both throwing and running the football. His leadership skills will be key to help the Predators through the adversity that 2013 will bring. At Running Back Anders Larsson returns back in top shape after ending the season on high note with two strong performances in the the playoffs. Anders looks to continue that momentum in 2013. Adding to the RB core will be Timmy Göransson from Ystad Rockets. Timmy has started on the Swedish nation team for the last 2 years and is a great talent with the ball in his hands. At Wide Receiver the Predators I believe have the most talent of any team in Sweden. Returning starters Benjamin Hörnquist, Sorin Pandrea and Marcus Johnsson have great playmaking ability and have great hands along with great speed. Along with youngsters Pontus Nilsson, Pontus Bengtsson what the Predators lack in depth they make up for with explosive ability.

WR Sorin Pandrea with
OL Sebbe Schön  Lukas Klang
The offensive Line will with out a doubt has the biggest challenge ahead of them in 2013. The difference in talent they will face compared to last year is drastic. Center Lukas Klang anchors the front along with the help of junior national team members Sebastian Schön and Tim Hermansson. Guards Johan Johnsson, Niklas Persson,  Kawai Mellannamn and Niklas Ellman are up for the challenge of protecting Juhlin and opening holes in the run game.

Predator defenders swarm tackle
the ball carrier.

The Predator defense returns 9 of the 11 starters from a defense in 2012 that allowed less then 7 points a game. DT Anton Warhby has left the Predators to attend Wofford College in the United States. DE Marcus Dickson is still rehabing a severe knee injury from late in the year in 2012 and will hopefully be ready for action at the end of the summer. Returning players who saw a lot of action on defensive line is Peter Buren, brothers Gustav and Johan Svensson, Anton Henriksson and David Göransson. The Predators added 3 new players to the mix up front on defensive. Two former members of the Gotenborg Marvels, Emanuel Okon and Albin Dahl will provide an immediate impact for the DL as well young Maximilian Malander from Lugi.

LB Sacce Hörnquist
Returning at linebacker Sacarias Hörnquist will once again lead the defense in 2013. Nils Olsson and Marcus Schön both saw alot of action in 2012 and will be key to the success of the Predators defense again this season. Added to this group are 4 very talented players who each bring a unique set of talents to the Predators. Simon Nilsson formerly of Limhamn will bring his raw energy and playmaking ability off the edge. Simon is also a threat as a pass rusher. A.J. Karikari bring his great work ethic and athleticism to the Predators from Lugi. And, junior national team member Olle Balksäter from Ystad has great instincts and a tough nosed attitude. Tim Moström also from Ystad has the ability to play in space and cover backs out of the backfield. The wide range of talents that this group posses with give the coaches a lot of flexibility in game planning week in and week out.

LB Marcus Schön & Sacce Hörnquist
DL Peter Buren & Johan Svensson
The secondary might be the strength of the defense for the Predators in 2013. Alex Nilsson, Johan Vighagen both had outstanding seasons in 2012. Their size and speed allow them to both play corner and safety to take advantage of the defenses weaknesses. Carl Neilsen will be moving from RB to DB this season. Carl posses the same combination of speed and size that will bolster the secondary. In addition Tommy Moström from Ystad will be added to the secondary. His knowledge of the game and ability to play both in the box and out in space make him a valuable addition to this group. Returning Predators Robin Dahl, Krutas Hansson, and Niklas Petersson bring depth and experience making this an extremely talented and well rounded group.

DL Peter Buren
DB Alex Nilsson

DB Johan Vighagan

The Predators will be signing an American import that will be announced in the coming days. The desire to upgrade our roster will never end and I would expect other additions to be made as we get closer to the  start of the season.
